We intend to adopt a (very) light-moderation atmosphere. And we want to avoid tone policing. But… since this is an anonymous space aimed at encouraging people to share what they know, we have a few simple rules:
- No personal attacks, harassment, or targeting. It’s often useful/important to be critical or negative. But don’t be a jerk or malicious or hurtful! Don’t be mean. Disclaimer: we’re mellower about criticisms of public figures.
- No doxxing. Don’t reveal others’ identities. Don’t ask who they are — don’t even speculate. The system works because people feel safe. [Don’t try to contact others offline in an effort to explore identity.]
- Don’t make shit up (content). Don’t make stuff up or post content that’s fake. We expect people to make good faith efforts. If we sense you’re trolling with fake stuff, we’ll suspend or ban you.
- Don’t make shit up (identity). Don’t claim an identity or an element of identity that isn’t accurate.
- No hateful internet stuff. No porn, hate speech, targeting marginalized groups. C’mon.
Enforcement: we’ll generally warn, suspend, then ban. But for egregious or obviously bad faith stuff, we’ll ban quickly. We may choose to make quick judgments about bad intentions.
